The ICMG felt compelled to publish on its website this message by our colleague, President of the NOC of France, Henri SERANDOUR, regarding the disturbing events in Paris during the passing of the Olympic flame on April 7. This message puts a stop to all the interpretations we read here and there, clarifies the position of the French NOC and emphasizes on the responsible stance of French athletes. We can only share the opinions and be moved by the faith in the Olympic ideals expressed herein. Those who love sports will understand and appreciate.
The Games for one day, the Olympic ideals forever.

By Henri SERANDOUR, President NOC of France
Paris hosted a few days ago the Olympic flame, symbol of peace and tolerance. I would have liked for France and its capital to have shown again in a splendid manner the attachment to the universal Olympic values and their love for the Games. Today, I am sad and outraged, more so for the athletes and all the relay runners that wanted to enjoy carrying the Olympic Torch. It is hard to imagine that some of theme were even insulted as if they were villains. I cannot put it more clearly than to say that last Wednesday I was worried about the physical and moral integrity of the athletes. Nothing, no cause justifies this attitude.
